Capital Wines started as Kyeema Wines, which was established by Andrew McEwin in 1986. In 2000 he purchased a vineyard 4 kms south of Murrumbateman. In 2008 Kyeema wines became Capital Wines with a much expanded range of wines, including the highly successful Ministry Series. The Kyeema estate vineyard was the main source of fruit, supplemented by grape purchases mainly from the Canberra District. In 2019, the vineyard was sold. In early 2020 the Capital wines brand, business and cellar door was purchased by Bill and Maria Mason and Colin and Kay Andrews.
Our Wine Makers

Andrew, the great, great grand-son of George McEwin, (one of the first men to plant vines in the Adelaide Hills in the 1840s) is regarded as the district’s quiet achiever. He is a highly respected winemaker among his peers with an impressive tally of show awards and trophies.
Phil Scott was awarded The Encouragement Award for up and coming Australian Riesling Makers at the 2015 International Riesling Challenge.
